Sudden Cardiac Death

Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) is a condition striking otherwise healthy young people who have experienced no obvious symptoms of heart disease prior to their deaths. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a form of heart muscle disease that occurs in 1 out of 500 people. HCM is the most common cause of heart-related sudden death in people under 30 years of age.
