The Mat Gaberty Heart Center at McLaren Macomb provides a comprehensive range of cardiac services — from diagnostic screenings, preventative care and catheterizations to open-heart surgery, as well as follow-up rehabilitation.
Major services include:
Diagnostic Imaging – With the most advanced equipment and a specialized staff, the Mat Gaberty Heart Center offers a wide range of cardiac testing. Procedures include PET and CT scanning, plus CT angiography and coronary artery calcium scoring. Cardiac studies are also performed using advanced procedures in nuclear medicine, ultrasound and radiology, as well as MRI scanning.
Cardiovascular Medicine – Top specialists and programs help prevent and treat conditions such as coronary artery disease (CAD) or heart issues related to high cholesterol and diabetes. Cardiologists work in collaboration with surgeons, registered nurses, exercise physiologists and technicians to provide advanced care.
Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Procedures – The Center’s cardiac catheterization labs are newly renovated and equipped with the most advanced technology to help diagnose and treat cardiovascular problems, such as coronary or peripheral artery disease.
Our state-of-the-art cardiac cath labs offer low-radiation, high-resolution digital equipment that maximizes both patient safety and image quality.
Working in the cardiac cath labs, our cardiologists are also able to perform life-saving invasive cardiology treatments (non-surgical) if necessary. These may include angioplasty or the use of vascular stents and balloons to open blocked arteries.
Intensive Care – If surgery is needed, patients are typically admitted to the hospital and receive specialized care in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Follow-up care – After discharge from the hospital, patients benefit from specialized rehabilitation programs, plus support groups and patient education opportunities. |
