McLaren Macomb's cancer program takes pride in offering patients advanced technology and leading-edge procedures in a caring, compassionate setting. The cancer program is dedicated to providing the best care available through a personalized treatment plan administered by a medical team of doctors, nurses, social workers, dietitians and other health care personnel working together.
Dietary/Nutritional Services
Dietitians are available to meet with individuals and their families to develop an eating plan tailored to meet each patient's nutritional needs.
Inpatient Hospitalization
The inpatient oncology unit is staffed with specially trained nurses and support staff, and led by a nurse manager certified in oncology nursing through the Oncology Nursing Society.
Oncology Nurses
The cancer program's nurses have undergone special cancer education and training. The nurse manager for the inpatient oncology unit is certified in oncology nursing through the Oncology Nursing Society.
Reflection Room
This specially designated area is for patients and family members who need time for quiet reflection, a place to discuss treatment options or read.
Social Work
An oncology social worker is available to provide counseling, education and resources to help reduce stress for patients and their families.
Cancer Care Conferences
The multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists, including doctors, residents (doctors-in-training), nurses and other health care professionals involved, gather twice each week to discuss patient care in order to ensure that a comprehensive evaluation of treatment options takes place.
