TRAUMA & EMERGENCY MEDICINE
When emergency service providers arrive with patients, our staff understands the need to work with these team members to quickly and efficiently provide the best possible care. We immediately direct the crew to a room and initiate assessment and treatment.

Our emergency medicine team is led by board-certified physicians, utilizing leading technology and supported by specially trained ER nurses. This experienced team treats more than 57,000 patients each year, and stands ready to treat any medical emergency-day or night.

As Macomb County's first verified trauma center, McLaren-Macomb offers advanced trauma care - the kind that can make a difference in a critical situation. Our trauma surgeons are in-house 24 hours a day to respond rapidly to incoming trauma.

Board-certified trauma surgeons with extensive experience and training in the care of the traumatically injured patient oversee a comprehensive, systematic approach to the care of trauma patients. In addition to trauma surgeons, the trauma care team includes board-certified specialists, emergency department physicians, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons and plastic surgeons. The trauma nurse coordinator is a registered nurse responsible for organizing the multidisciplinary trauma team and developing a communication network for care management.

McLaren-Macomb's ER is staffed with some of the area's most experienced nurses. Nurses in the emergency department have had specialty training in advanced cardiac life support and trauma nursing, providing their essential expertise in every patient care situation.

CARDIAC CARE
McLaren-Macomb's cardiology team performs thousands of invasive cardiology procedures each year-many of them on an emergent basis. As a result, our team has developed expedited processes to initiate procedures quickly, as evidenced by an average 61 minute door-to-balloon time for heart attack patients. Our cardiologists are an integral part of the emergency team, providing quality care to cardiac patients presenting in the ER.

PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY CARE
Of the 57,000 patients treated in McLaren-Macomb's ER each year, approximately 25% are children. Our emergency team has the expertise to treat virtually any illness or injury, providing compassionate care for our youngest patients. And should a pediatric patient require admission and further care, we have a board-certified pediatrician in-house 24/7.
