Family Medicine physicians were instrumental in the creation of McLaren Macomb, and FM remains an integral part of the hospital today. In keeping with this tradition, the hospital has offered Family Medicine Residency Training since 1955. This two-year program is approved for 12 positions by the AOA. Many residents complete a Family Medicine Emphasis Internship; other AOA internships will also meet prerequisites.
Our full-time faculty includes FM Program Director, Patricia Florence, D.O. Additional teaching faculty include Andrew Adair, DO; Joseph Lajoie, DO; Bernadette Lawless, DO; and Patrick McClellan, DO. Other core faculty for our program include:
Thomas Zima, DO - OB/Gyn
Lori Dillard, DO - OMM
David Mandy, DO - Pediatrics
Douglas Kubek, DO - ENT/FPS
John Kazmierski, DO - Cardiology
Peter Ajluni, DO - Office Orthopedics
Julie Burnham, DO - Neurology
Eugene Zuzga, DO - Board Review and Pathology
Family First, the FM resident ambulatory clinic, is a 4500 square-foot facility located just minutes from the main hospital. Under the supervision of board-certified faculty, interns and residents benefit from true continuity experiences by providing longitudinal care to their own panel of patients. Clinical Facilities include on-site x-ray, laboratory services, procedure room and OMT rooms. In addition, FM residents staff the MCGH Mobile Outreach Clinic, a fully equipped clinic on wheels that provides quality health care to underserved populations in our community.
