The Children's Center is located adjacent the Family Birthing Center, on the 3rd floor of the east tower of the hospital. If a newborn requires additional medical care after nursery, a 15 bed special care nursery is located within the birthing center. Here specially trained physicians and nurses provide care to babies. Parent visitation is encouraged.
Should your older child need to be hospitalized, the Pediatric unit dedicated to children newborn to 18 years is available. Each private room is complete with a television, telephone, and sleep chair for a parent to stay overnight. Experienced nursing staff is sensitive to your child's needs and will try to make your stay as easy as possible, recognizing that having a child hospitalized can be a very stressful time.
All pediatricians are board-certified in pediatric medicine. A full range of pediatric specialty physicians are available to assist in your child's care if necessary. The department also has a direct relationship with Children's Hospital of Michigan for more serious illnesses. Case managers and social workers are also available to provide assistance.
