Physicians

Grace Gibbs, DO, FACOOG
Dr. Grace Gibbs joined Meridian Women's Health in 2006. She received her medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (Des Moines) and offers complete obstetric (pregnancy) and gynecological care. Involved in training future physicians, Dr. Gibbs is an Assistant Clinical Professor of surgical subspecialties at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. A commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, Dr. Gibbs served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle. She currently holds the rank of Major, Flight Surgeon of the 171st Airlift Squadron and the 127th Medical Squadron of the Michigan National Guard. Married with two sons, Dr. Gibbs enjoys golfing in her free time.
Sandra Russell, DO, FACOOG
Dr. Russell has been practicing at Meridian Women's Health since 2003. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. A board-certified physician, Dr. Russell offers complete obstetric (pregnancy) and gynecological care. She has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical options for women. Dr. Russell was one of the first gynecologic surgeons to use the da Vinci Robotic Surgical system for hysterectomies. Dr. Russell is also Co-Chief of the OB/GYN department at McLaren Greater Lansing. She is married with a son and a daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and traveling.

Beth Root, Nurse Practitioner
With more than 12 years of experience in women's health, Beth Root joined Meridian Women's Health in 2009. She earned her nursing degrees from Grand Valley State University, University of Detroit-Mercy, and Hurley School of Nursing. Mrs. Root provides complete obstetric and gynecologic care, but she has a special interest in adolescent health and obstetrics. She also has extensive experience with bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Married with four daughters, Mrs. Root enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. 

 

Sameerah Shareef, Nurse, Midwife
Sameerah Shareef earned her nursing degrees from Lansing Community College and Case Western Reserve University. As a certified nurse midwife, she trained at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
