Hand Clinic

Treating a wide variety of hand, elbow and wrist injuries

There are many living activities that become a real challenge when your hands are injured or painful. Our occupational therapists and Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) can help you recover from a hand or arm injury, whether related to trauma or repetitive use. Ttherapists will assist in helping you with range of motion/flexibility and strength, reduce swelling, and ultimately, regain the functional use of your hand/arm.

On your first visit, the therapist will complete an evaluation and develop an individual and effective treatment plan that meets your needs. Treatments may include: therapeutic exercise (stretching and strengthening), mobilization of joint(s) or tissues, thermal treatments (hot/cold), tendon glides, and providing custom and prefabricated splints.

Our occupational therapy staff treats a wide variety of hand/wrist/elbow injuries such as: fractures, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, lacerations, tendon ruptures, and contractures.

The key to success in treating your condition is the communication between you, your therapists, and your physician during your treatment. A physician must provide a prescription to the patient or the Hand Clinic to begin treatment. McLaren Greater Lansing participates with most insurance companies. Check with your insurance carrier about occupational therapy benefits.
