Student Volunteer Information
There are limited openings per semester for new student volunteers and orientation is required. Future orientations will be held:
- Tuesday, Sept 17, 2013 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, Jan 21, 2014 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Interviews for the September 2013 orientation will begin in August. Please do not call until August to set up interviews for the September orientation.

Orientations are held at McLaren Central Michigan. You MUST attend an orientation prior to volunteering. Excuse notes are available for professors if you need to miss class for the orientation. You will schedule volunteer shifts the day of orientation. Returning students will have schedule preference. Schedules are made per semester.
Requirements to volunteer at McLaren Central Michigan:
- Interview with volunteer director
- 25-hour per semester commitment (2 hrs/week)
- Copy of immunization records (must bring to interview)
- TB test (given at interview - no charge)
- 18 years of age or older
- Background checks
Volunteer opportunities are on the medical/surgical floors. Returning students do have the option to ask to volunteer in the Emergency Department or the Family Birthing Center at the discretion of the Department Director. If you are interested in physical, occupational, or speech therapy, please contact Amy Tickle at amy.tickle@mclaren.org.
