Through the MCRMC Cancer Research Office and the hospital's affiliation with national research organizations (SWOG, NSABP), patients have access to current clinical trials and research activities that:
- Evaluate potential cancer prevention strategies
- Measure the effectiveness of certain drugs and treatment protocols
- Assess quality of life issues, without needing to leave their home community
- Can lead to improved treatment and eventually a cure for cancer as well as giving the individual patient an opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge program that could provide great personal benefit.

Physicians on the MCRMC Medical Staff can help patients determine whether they are candidates for research trials. Patients and physicians interested in these or other trials may call the research coordinator at 586/493-3426.
