Graduate Medical Education

Whether you are looking for externship rotations or internship and residency opportunities, the Department of Medical Education at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center can provide you with quality clinical and educational experiences.

For over 50 years, Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center has been a leader in osteopathic graduate medical education. In fact, more than 1,100 osteopathic physicians have successfully completed internship and residency programs at Mount Clemens Regional. MCRMC serves as a base hospital site for medical students from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Des Moines and the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Osteopathic medical students have traveled from across the country to participate in our programs.

Pre and post-doctoral education at MCRMC focuses on hands-on clinical experience. Interns and residents play a key role and are integral to patient care. We are a thriving institution that can provide you ample volume, a wide array of pathology, and the opportunity to be an active participant, not just an observer. But even as we have grown, we have maintained a friendly environment where our employees and house staff are part of an extended family, dedicated to improving the health of the people we serve.

Formal didactics compliment the bedside experience. Our core lecture series includes lectures daily at 7 am and noon, including morning report, Grand Rounds, CPC and morbidity and mortality conferences, as well as COMLEX Level 3 Board Review. New academic programming provides exposure to ethics, communication skills and the business side of medicine, and validates learning through competency assessment. Journal clubs and other organized lectures are offered in a range of specialties. Training and competency assessment in osteopathic medicine are incorporated into the intern and resident curricula.

The Main Hospital and ambulatory clinics are modern and well maintained and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. MCGH continues to expand its facilities and services to meet the community's needs. Located in a growing suburban area of southeastern Michigan, the surrounding communities offer many options for housing, as well as easy access to nearby shopping, recreational and cultural activities.

We believe that Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center offers the finest in externship, internship and residency training. I would be happy to personally discuss with you how MCRMC can meet your needs and expectations.
