THE DOCTORS'
DOCTORS
 Reliable diagnoses and a
wealth of knowledge to interpret test results accurately are available at Bay
Regional Medical Center's Clinical Laboratory and Pathology
services.
"We like to think of ourselves as
the doctors' doctors," says Dennis Spender, M.D., pathologist and Medical
Director of the Laboratory at Bay. "Whenever a physician orders test
results, our pathologists are able to recommend diagnoses and follow-up tests to
help better serve that patient."
Bay offers general laboratory tests, including blood
work analyses and specimen collection as well as other valuable diagnostic
tools. Anatomic pathology screenings available at Bay can diagnose
conditions ranging from skin cancer to brain tumors within a day. Other
diagnostic tools include bone marrow biopsies, hundreds of which are performed
every year, and fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB).
"We provide FNAB for palpable lesions with a rapid
turnaround time, usually within 24 hours." says Dr. Spender. "We increase
the quality of care patients receive in radiology as well. Our
pathologists can provide immediate adequacy notification to radiology during
FNAB."
