For Group Customers
Recent healthcare reform legislation requires McLaren Health Plan to reevaluate all group plans. This is being done to ensure compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
Changes relating to PPACA will be implemented for most groups on Jan. 1, 2011. Groups with documented plan years that fall between Sept. 23, 2010 and Dec. 31, 2010 will see product changes on their plan year within that timeframe.
Open Enrollment for Dependents up to age 26
As required by the PPACA, there will be an open enrollment period from November 1, through November 30, 2010 for all dependents up to age 26 that are not currently enrolled in your plan. Coverage following this enrollment will be effective on January 1, 2011.
- All groups will have an opportunity to enroll dependents up to age 26 during this 30-day open enrollment period.
- McLaren Health Plan defines dependents as those related to the employee by birth, marriage, legal adoption or legal guardianship.
- Dependents up to 26 are eligible to be on their parents plan regardless of marital status or if they reside with their parents. However, your plan is not required to cover the dependent's spouse nor their children.
- A copy of the enrollment form to be used during Open Enrollment is available here.
