A Commitment to Excellence
After merging four hospitals during the 1970s and 1980s, McLaren Bay Region developed a full continuum of health services for Northeast Michigan. With acute care at McLaren Bay Region: Main Campus and McLaren Bay Special Care on the West Campus, home health services, medical equipment, pharmacy, women's health and rehabilitation services, more than 2,000 McLaren Bay Region employees provide quality care to nearly a half million people in East Michigan.

2013
- April 2013 – McLaren Bay Region has been named as a Blue Distinction Center+ in the area of Spine Surgery.
- February 2013 – Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care (mPINC) provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified McLaren Bay Region as a leading hospital in maternity care practices and infant feeding support.
- February 2013 – Cherri Burzynski, President/CEO of McLaren Bay Special Care, received a "Women of Achievement Award" from the YWCA in the "Healthcare" category.
- February 2013 - Kimberly Prime, McLaren Bay Special Care Board Member, received a Lifetime Achievement award from the YWCA.

- December 2012- McLaren Bay Region honored by Society of Thoracic Surgeons and Government Agency …3 stars to MBR’s Cardiac Surgery Program
- December 2012 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) has awarded its highest rating – 3 stars – to McLaren Bay Region’s Cardiac Surgery Program in the area of isolated coronary bypass graft surgery (CABG).
- October 2012 – McLaren Bay Region was awarded the Silver Medal for Organ Donation and Transplantation from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services
- September 2012 - The McLaren Bay Cancer Program received 3-year accreditation with commendations from the American College of Surgeons survey in August. Out of the 36 standards reviewed we had no deficiencies.
- September 2012 – American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry – GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2012 – one of only 164 hospitals nationwide.
- August 2012 - "Certificate of Recognition," business category, from Bay City in Bloom and the Northeastern Michigan Rosarians, for recognizing our efforts toward improving the landscaping, tidiness and beauty of our Community.
- July, 2012 – Mary Whyte Marshall, MSN, OCN, RN-BC, received certification in Health Information Technology Professional (HIT-Pro). This intense IT program provides understanding of health IT, meaningful use, and leadership for implementation for IT projects. The program provides principles to coordinate the implementation of Health Information Exchange partners and support for end-users. This certification will assist McLaren Bay Region as we continue to move forward with electronic medical record.
- May, 2012 – Saginaw Valley State University awarded the Nursing Excellence Awards during Nurses Week. Scott Miller, RN, was a recipient of the Acute Care Nursing Award. Mary Whyte Marshall, RN, Staff Development, received the Nurse Educator Award. Sandy Shutt, Director of Case Management and admissions at McLaren Bay Special Care, was the recipient of the Long Term Care/Rehabilitation Award.
- May 11, 2012 – American Cancer Society Great Lakes Division 2011 Relay for Life Team Excellence Award
- April 23, 2012 – McLaren Bay Region announced the delivery of first-rate cancer rehab services to survivors, thanks to earning STAR Program Certification. (STAR stands for “Survivorship, Training and Rehab). McLaren Bay Region is the first in the state of Michigan to provide this cancer rehab program. STAR Program Certification uniquely qualifies facilities like McLaren Bay Region to offer premium Oncology Rehabilitation Services to survivors who suffer from debilitating side effects caused by treatments.
- January 2012 - Nuclear Medicine earned a 3-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR); Sites are at Bay Regional Heart & Vascular in Alma. Physicians are Dr. Sudeep Mohan and Dr. Abraham Krepostman
McLaren Bay Region continues to be a provider of Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, serving the uninsured and underinsured in Bay County with free primary medical care, referrals for testing, and follow up care.
